Q8. Does Ansun make its products to meet the special safety requirements of many countries?
A8. NICKEL CONTENT Nickel has been shown to be the most common cause of skin contact allergy in Europe. European Directive 94/27/EC was made a Law in the year 2000 and specifies the upper limit for nickel release not to exceed 0.5 micrograms per square centimeter per week in articles which have direct and prolonged contact with the skin - such as Jewellery, Fashion Accessories, and Metal adornments for apparel.

We at Ansun certify that our entire Nickel Free range satisfies the above specified maximum limit for Nickel release. But please be very specific while ordering and ask for Nickel Free when ever required.

Download FAQ's on Nickel Regulation and Testing Methods in Europe for more information.

LEAD CONTENT Lead Content in the paints used by Ansun for painting all our sliders is well below the detectable levels, except for White paint, in which also the maximum Lead content is only 0.033 %, which is still well below the maximum level of 0.06% laid down in Clause 1303.1 of Consumer Product Safety Commission of USA.

We also certify that all our Zippers are free of the following substances:

AZO Dyestuffs
We use disperse type dyestuff which is without content of "AZO", thus all our Zipper after dyeing are absolutely "AZO FREE" and do not create any secondary pollution.

PCP - Penta-Chloro-Phenol
Zipper produced by us observe Oeko-Tex Standard #105 for PCP Content.

They do not contain PCP exceeding 0.05 ppm.

Q20. Can I get different combinations of Body and Puller as per my choice?
A20. Yes we can make endless combinations, so you can choose from our vast range and make your own combination. In some Pin Lock and Autolock Sliders, all combinations may not be possible due to lock requirement. In any case we will assist you in choosing the right combination for your specific needs.

Q21. I sometimes face the problem of proper mounting and running of the slider on the zipper. What do I do?
A21. We get this kind of feedback sometimes- very rarely though. Usually the problem lies with the Zipper size. The Zipper being a flexible product has a tendency to stretch or shrink during manufacturing which could lead to a non-standard size. The Slider being a metallic high pressure Die Casted product has a much less tendency to deviate from the designed size. Hence once the Slider mould is finalised for production, the chances of size variation are much less. We manufacture all Sliders and Zippers sizes in line with the the Industry standards being followed worldwide.

In such a situation, we can make a special size of the Slider to match your Non Standard Zipper Chain, provided the quantity is sufficient to take care of the extra tooling cost that we would incur in manufacturing. Please send us your Zipper Sample and we will get back to you with some feasible cost-effective solution.

Q22. The Slider sometimes catches on the Fabric when opened or closed. Is there any way to free the slider without causing damage to the fabric?
A22. Remove the trapped fabric by moving the slider back while pulling the fabric outward. Take care to avoid the possibility of the zipper getting caught when opening and closing it.

Q23. My Bag Zipper is not running smoothly. What could be the problem?
A23. Zippers are an excellent innovation, but the problem is Zippers are prone to failure, particularly due to misuse or abuse. All of the Zippers on most of the soft luggage or Bags are the Polyester CFC Zippers which have small, interlocked coils stitched onto the webbing tape with a Zinc Alloy Die Casted Slider. One of the best features of such CFC Coil Zippers is the self-mending property. When a Zipper jam occurs, all you need to do is pass the Zipper Slider back and forth very carefully and the chances are that the Zipper coils will straighten out without any further problems.

Q24. The zipper on my bag does not seem to be running well & the zipper opens up sometimes. Why?
A24. Proper use will not damage a good Zipper and Slider, like the ones made by ANSUN. However, if dirt or grit finds a way inside particularly along the CFC coils, the damage can be quick and fatal.

A more common cause is general abuse, forcing the zipper open by pulling on the fabric places excess stress on the Zipper Slider and can cause it to fail. In addition, excessive pulling of the Zipper Slider when a bit of fabric is jammed can also damage the Zipper Slider and/or the coils. Regular maintenance, proper care and a little respect will keep you Zippers in top condition and prevent Zipper failure.

A very common problem noticed on many cheap unbranded bags is that, the Zipper is working fine, then all of a sudden the two sides of the Zipper part away, opening up behind the Zipper Slider. This is most common with cheap light duty Polyester CFC Zippers. Now where is the problem? This is not a sign of a worn-out Zipper Slider as it normally appears to be, it is usually a problem with the cheap CFC Zipper. The coil and the webbing tape are held together with polyester sewing thread. Due to bad quality of thread and very low weight of the webbing tape the coil becomes loose after some use, thus making the coil move freely over the Webbing tape and resulting in this failure.

What do you do under such conditions? Either you throw away your still quite usable bag or you go back to the bag manufacturer. Finding the bag manufacturer of an unbranded item cab be quite a job. Thus you are left with no choice but to either repair the Zipper fitted as it is on the bag or else give it to a repair shop for a change of Zipper.

One preferred method of getting a worn-out Zipper back into action is to repair the Zipper yourself (DIY) by using a small set of nose pliers, the type found in most pocket tools kits.

Move the Zipper Slider all the way to the beginning. This may mean some gentle coercion, and I repeat gentle coercion. Next, use your nose pliers to gently pinch the rear corner, at the trailing end of the Zipper Slider. Then pinch the opposite side rear corner, using equal pressure. Try the Zipper, and then repeat this gradual pinching process until the Slider functions normally. The chances are that you will get your Zipper working for some more time. If not then?

You can get the Zipper replaced from your neighborhood repair shop and insist he uses an original ANSUN zipper and slider.

We are sorry that we do not provide any direct servoce for such repairs.

Q25. What are Rubber Puller Sliders?
A25. All Zipper Sliders are generally made only from die-casted Zinc Alloy and are then painted or plated to give the required colour & finish. Rubber sliders were designed to make the feel for human fingers more comfortable and to give more pleasing looks with multicolor combinations. Thermo plastic rubber is Injected on to Zinc Alloy Zipper components. The presence of Zinc Alloy component under the Rubber is a must to maintain the Strength requirements for the finished Zipper Slider.

Q26. What are Sheet Metal Sliders?
A26. Traditionally all Zipper Sliders were made with pressed sheet metal using mainly cold rolled steel or brass sheets. This manufacturing method has slowly got phased out and now Sliders are made by the Zinc Alloy die-casted method.

However, some applications still demand strengths which are not easily achieved with Zinc Alloy. Therefore Sliders made out of pressed brass or steel sheets are still used. One such example is the Slider for Metal Zippers used for tough Denim Jeans and Casuals.

Q27. Are there any special Zippers for Denim Jeans and Cargo's?
A27. Denim Jeans, tough casual wear like cargo's, chinos and other wrinkle free trousers all demand tough Zippers. Traditionally tough looks are associated with these garments and they are subjected to Special Wash like the harsh Acid Wash, Stone Wash, Ice Wash, Enzyme Wash etc.

Ansun manufactures the tough Zippers required for this application. The Sliders are made from pressed Brass Sheets and use tempered stainless springs. The Zipper teeth are made from high density Brass Wire and these Zippers even use an extruded Brass Bottom stop which is shaped like an H for very high strengths.

Q29. What are the different products available for Leather Garments?
A29. Zippers - Close End or Open End in Metal with any Slider.
Zipper Sliders - Widest range of Sliders - Standard or Customised.
Alloy Buttons - Hole Type and Shank Type.
Pendants for Trousers.
Pant Hooks & Eyes for Trousers and Skirts

Q30. Some Zipper Facts?
A30.
  • Plastic Zippers are less likely to break, than metal Zippers.
  • Plastic Zippers are easier to zip up and require less maintenance
  • Polyester Coil Zippers are much stronger than solid looking plastic moulded toothed Zippers.
  • Larger Zippers are not necessarily stronger.
  • Dirt in a CFC Zipper or Zipper Slider will quickly damage it, keeping a Zipper clean will extend its life.

Almost all Zippers use Sliders made of Zinc Alloy that are prone to sea corrosion, particularly in sea air or salt water. Always rinse any equipment that has been exposed to sea air or salt water with fresh water as soon as you are able to, and dry thoroughly. Spaying the Zippers with silicon waterproofing spray, Teflon spray, or rubbing with candle wax on the odd occasion will protect the Zipper and will also reduce friction, wear and tear and enhance the life of the Zippers. Remember, proper care of your Zippers will give you many years of loyal service and the Zippers could even outlast your backpack.
